Before I started concept art work I researched how real forest look like and I made moodboards so I can get an idea of how many things I need my environment to have and to get general inspiration from reality. This also was used as a pallet in choosing the colors for objects in the scene.
This is a top view map of the environment I have in mind that I sketched.
